Star cellist in a fairy-tale programme
Gubaidulina and Stravinsky become storytellers! In their musical fairy tales they present a cast of witty instrumental figures, who they let experience all kinds of fabulous adventures. It would be hard to imagine a better setting for star cellist Sol Gabetta. Martinů’s bold gestures and melancholic song lines fit Sol Gabetta like a glove. It is as if he composed his cello concerto especially for her.
