A musical journey through traditionals from the Caucasus to Africa

Ashiq Nargile (Ashiq means singer-poet) is one of the leading interpreters of Georgia’s Azeri minority tradition. On her saz – a long-necked lute – she accompanies herself in powerful songs that are full of emotion. It is then time for another musical tradition. Youssouf Keita is a master of the balafon, the African father of our western marimba. Marimba player Adilia Yip takes us on a musical journey that starts in West Africa and ends with a new composition by Michiel De Malsche.
