Musical dialogue with a friendly note

At the request of Jan Michiels, Kris Defoort wrote Dedicatio: ten intimate piano pieces, personal letters dedicated to people who are close to his heart. As that piano cycle took shape, Michiels recognised an increasing affinity with the work of Debussy. Although there is a hundred years between that French Impressionist and Defoort, they write from a similar inner perspective and sense of colour. Debussy's Préludes – performed by Jan Michiels, with improvisation by Kris Defoort – therefore fit this programme like a glove.
