‘Yesterday my concert only lasted an hour and a quarter. Usually, only four pieces are played and then: Addio!' The Mozarts found Salzburg court life rather tedious, especially their son Wolfgang Amadé. Fed up of masses and motets, he amused himself by playing groundbreaking symphonies and brilliant concertos. His older colleague Michael Haydn was happy to fill in the gaps. Tonight, both composers are united under the inspiring direction of Kristian Bezuidenhout, who will conduct from the keyboard.
