Rebellious star violinist brings us Beethoven with barbs

Beethoven barefoot. Obstinate when necessary, compelling when appropriate. That is how the master’s Violin Concerto sounds in the hands of Kopatchinskaja, who is flanked in this concert by the prestigious Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Like no other, this seductive enfant terrible of the violin manages to bring out Beethoven's inherent modernity. No wonder then that she can match Beethoven so expertly with the groundbreaking music of Ives, Cage and Venezuelan Sánchez-Chiong.
